1.0 Introduction

This is a complete guide on having an own town, it includes everything you need to know about getting a town, develop it and keep it. This guide is made in cooperation with the pRophecy Guild of Argos.

1.1 Benefits of having a town

Having a town is a huge Status-Symbol some might refer to it as a twelve day Viagra pill to your e-peen, but that's not all by far. If you manage your town right you can make millions just by being afk, in addition you will be able to use an awesome function of the game, Kings Judgement!

2.0 What do you need beforehand?

These Numbers represent OUR experiences on the server Argos, the points will vary through all servers, but you might get the deal. The most important part is an active guild of at least 10 Members with level 90+ on a developed server, this is to guarantee you to get a town and will also help in keeping it. When you have accumulated about 70k Guild Points you're good to go to get your town, but always keep in mind: You will need at least the same amount of Guild Points in twelve days, that's the period until your town is open for bidding again. Reminder: You will lose all Guild Points you have spent for a bid if you are the winner, if someone bids more then you, you will get all your Guild Points back.

2.1 Building Skill

That's an important part about having a town, the Building skill is kind of different to the other crafting skills, you can only craft Building things in Guild Craft, and as you may know, whenever you craft something in Guild Craft the crafting XP you get when its finished is divided by players who helped increasing the workload of the craft. This is a problem in this case, you only want one person to get all the crafting xp or it will take you ages until you get to level 25 on Building skill, that's what you want to reach. So you only have one option: You need to let the player who is pushing his building skill make the whole workload alone. This is usually no problem if the player is above 100, the problem is to keep your other members from not killing anything so they wont "steal" his crafting exp (workload). The best way for now (Cherry Tree Event) will let you increase your exp the best because it has 2 million workload, any other craft will also increase your workload but you will probably not need all of what you craft.

Here's a list of what you need to craft till 25 (this only works if no one else makes any workload!):

* 14xLarge Tree
* 03xAny House
* 06xAny Farm of skill level 7
* 09xAny Warehouse of skill level 10
* 14xAny Market of skill level 13
* 18xAny Factory of skill level 16
* 25xAny Guard Post of skill level 19
* 31xAny Hospital of skill level 22

3.0 How do you get your town, the cheapest and safest way?

When your guild has gathered about 70k guild points you can start looking for a town, we will now show you on how to get a town the cheapest and safest way.

First you need to find a town which will be open for bidding soon, this can be done by using the Town Expiration Tab in the Town Info section of Game Info -> Town (see screenshot below)

On the right side you see the Name of the town and the expiration date, remember that one month in game is equal to one day in real life. You now need to check every town starting with the first and going down the list. What you need to know is the guild who is controlling the town and how many Guild Points they have. You can find out about the guild who is holding the town by clicking on the "Controlling Guild of Town" Tab. Find the town you checked first which will expire soon and find out the guild who is holding it, remember the number behind the guildname you will need it in a second.

Now go to a town, it doesn't matter which one and click on the town menu on the right side of your screen, click on the Guild Office. We will now find out about the guild who is holding the town and gather some information about them, this is a big part of getting a town, bidding on towns you can't get in the first place will just make the opposing guild angry and you have to remember they can Kings Judgement you and take all your precious gear. Click on the Guild List tab (see screenshot) and find the guild by using the number which you should have remembered from earlier. When you find them click on them and you will see some information about them; members, guildlevel, some blabla and most important how many Guild Points and gold they have (see screenshot).

If they have more Guild Points then your own guild, forget it and just check for the next town by starting all over again with the town expiration tab from the Town Info menu. When you finally find a town of a guild which has less Guild Points then yours, gather more information about them, check how much money they have. You need to know that they will probably use all their money to buy Guild Operation Textbooks from the market to increase their Guild Points by using them (5-6m per 500 Guild Points on Argos). Do some math and find out if they in theory still have more Guild Points then you do, if they have forget it and start again.

You get the deal, there are some more factors you need to know about, try to find out if they have a lot of high-levels so their members might get some more Guild Operation Textbooks from their own wallet, and also check in what nation they are (you can do that by speaking to Caesar on the Rome Plaza). Do not provoke any wars you can't handle!

So you found a town, all conditions met and you want to get it, wait until its open for bidding and bid at least 10k more guild points as they have. If they have really low guild points and no money, try to contact the guild leader of them and ask if you can take the town without having a bidding war. This has proven to work and you might get you a town for really really low Guild Points.

4.0 How do you keep your town?

As stated before the most important part is having an active guild which is able to run at least the Oblivion Guild Dungeon (3x3 Teams 95+ is doable but not easy, 6 People 100+ will be easy). You need to accumulate as many Guild Points as you can get within 12 days.

Here are the things you can do to obtain Guild Points:

* Nation Dungeons, Guild Dungeons
* Training Center
* Free League (low)
* Guild operation Textbook
* Guild Crafting (20m workload maximum for 1k Guild Points)
* Town Quests (50-70 on pre, 5 maximum per player and day)

When your town period runs out and someone is bidding on your town you will have to outbid them and hope no one else or the same guild will bid again, when you win a bid (24hours without anyone bidding), the town will be yours again for 12 days.

13.37 You got your town!

Congratulations, you got your first town! Stop celebrating, now the real work begins!

5.0 Administrating your town

You have various functions to administer your town, you can set taxes, construct, appoint managers, set town greetings and much more...

Taxes: This is how much any customer in your town has to pay to use the market, bank, training center and whatever, this is based on percentage spent within the transaction. You can set taxes (1% - 10%) of the building you're a manager of by opening the Buildings Menu and clicking the upper right "Admin Menu" Button, also you can pay transfer the building's funds by paying its taxes to the Town Funds, 20% of that money goes into your own wallet the rest gets into the the Town Fund.

Construct: Please check point 5.2 for the construction options.

Appointing Managers: You can do that in the Town Hall, here you will get a menu to appoint guild members to managers of a building, it is pretty much self explaining, select the building and hit the Manager Button, now select a guild member and click the Manager Button in the new window that just opened. The chosen guild member will now be the manager of the building.

Town Greeting: Whenever someone hovers over the blue warp gate to your town you can set a greeting or a notice to anyone entering the town. Just click on the Town Greeting Button and you will get a small window where you can set a town greeting, "Setting" will let you change your message.

Transfer Town Funds: Here you can transfer the money your town made to your guild funds, this is pretty much self-explanatory, you can transfer the funds of your Town directly into the guild fund, please remind that 50% of that money will disappear and will be paid as tax to the system.

Modify Town Menu: Here you can decide on how the Town Menu will look, where the market, bank and all other buildings will be placed within the town menu, please see the screenshot.

5.1 Corresponding Numbers

You will notice various numbers about your town. Here is what they mean:

Population: increased by houses (50000)
Food: Agriculture (2000)
Storage: Warehouse (1000)
Commerce: increased by School (35), Factory (10), Market (1000), decreased by Guard Post (200)
Industry: increased by Factory (1000)
Culture: increased by Hospital (20), School (20), Large Tree (20), decreased by Agriculture (100), Warehouse (50)
Health: increased by Hospitals (1000)
Security: increased by Guard Posts (1000)

monthly income = current population x16
Income is only generated on population, commerce or industry do not add anything.

Satisfaction is the average of the these factors: commerce, industry, culture, health, and security. Those 5 are all capped at 100.
The factors for satisfaction are calculated by (current point value)/(population/1,000).

The two important factors with Food are Farms and Storage.
Every march and september, the storage is filled to the limit of your farms.
Every month except march and september, food equal to (population/1,000) is removed from storage
If there is not enough food at the start of a month, the population will not pay its taxes.

Population leaves town = 100 - satisfaction rate, but never less than 10.
The more satisfaction rate your got the lesser people will leave your town.

5.2 How do you build up your town?

So you just got your town and you're asking yourself on how to start and what to build, the information's you have gathered throughout this guide help you already, setting up your town with building is something you just have to do one time. There are different sized towns, we will give you an example of a small town and we will be aiming for 200k citizens to live in our town. So this example will only work for a small town, it is probably still a good start for big towns and you can later just add more buildings when you get a bigger town.

* Small Town, 50 Building Slots.
* 30x Large Tree
* 02x Any House
* 01x *Farm
* 02x *Ware House
* 03x *Market
* 02x *Factory
* 02x *Guard Post
* 02x *Hospital
* 06x *School

The * referrs to the regional style of the building where your town is located, this is to keep build space low.

Now on how to build the stuff, please see the screenshots for reference.

To construct buildings you need to have them in your inventory, now head over to the Construction Menu and select the building you want to construct.

After you've selected the building, you got it in your hands, now try to find some free space (marked green) in your town and try to place the house, right clicking will construct the house.
Just repeat that for all the other buildings and try not to waste any space.

6.0 Town Quests

In order to get your towns stats up you and your guild members can do Town Quests, just get a Manager Scroll corresponding to your Level (mid 30, adv 60, pre 100+) and look for the Town Quest button right in the middle of your town menu. You will get a random quest, when you complete it you will get some Guild Points, Experience, sometimes some Gold and Enchant Boxes and the valuable Town Points, including all 5 satisfaction factors, it is random what will be increased but will be noted as soon as you accept the quest. It is very important that right at the begining as soon as all the house are built all guild members participate in these Town Quests, every Guild Member can accept 5 Town Quests per day and should complete all of those until the satisfaction rate is over 90.

6.1 Persuading Residents

You will have noticed NPCs named Wandering Old Man, Traveling Girl, Porter, Merchant and all these others, those residents can be invited to come to your town. They will increase your population and bring in more taxes for you. Sometimes they will even sell some random stuff when they arrive in your town, any action with those residents require 100% Will, this includes persuading them and any trading actions.

7.0 Outro and Thank Yous

This Guide should have helped everyone who want to have a town sometime, this guide is written by our own experiences and might not reflect others.
